It is important to use a mat when doing lying down exercises for a few reasons…great for support on the joints, comfortability, and easy to clean when you sweat on it (who wants to have sweat and wear and tear on your living room carpet??). Now, of course, you can find a yoga mat anywhere, but if you are a senior or overweight, I really recommend this mat. Most mats are ½ inch and don’t feel that good on the spine and wrists. This one is 1 inch thick and feels GREAT! Easy to roll up and store away when not using.
